Description
The Integrated Solutions Division is seeking a Summer 2025 Software Engineer Intern in Aurora, CO or Chantilly, VA to support the Mission Solutions Software portfolio. The portfolio provides software development, sustainment, AI/ML, and intelligence analysis support across several programs incorporating several programming languages including C++, Java, Python, R, and others. The candidate must be eligible to obtain and maintain an active TS//SCI security clearance with a polygraph.
Leidos is seeking a driven software engineering student who is eager to learn and to apply lessons from academia to real-world challenges. The ideal candidate is a competent multi-tasker, clear communicator, and skilled problem solver who understands and can apply software engineering best practices in a dynamic software development environment.
The candidate will be responsible for supporting software design, development, integration and testing within an existing software process. The intern will implement software changes to develop new capabilities and resolve issues with existing capabilities. The software development environment is based on agile methodologies, so the ideal candidate will have experience working in a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with continuous integration models, unit test development, and automated regression testing approaches is highly desirable. In addition to working with analysts and other software developers, the candidate will interface with project managers, systems engineers, and customers on a regular basis, so good communications skills are a must.

Pay Range
Pay Range $46,800.00 - $84,600.00

Primary Responsibilities
- Develop software in a Linux environment (such as RedHat / CentOS) and/or in a Windows environment (such as Visual Studio Code)
- Attend weekly developer meetings to participate in software ticket prioritization and assignment
- Communicate status via software ticket tracking tool
- Test software using a variety of tools prior to commitment to software baseline
- Utilize software version control
- Provide direct customer support via weekly telecons
- Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science using one or more object-oriented programming languages such as C++ or Java
- Linux (RedHat / CentOS or equivalent) experience
- Scripting Python / Perl or similar experience
- Aptitude for learning new technologies
- Strong verbal and written communications skills are required, as well as the ability to maintain professionalism in a professional environment
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to obtain and maintain a TS//SCI clearance with CI Polygraph
- US Citizenship is required
- PostgreSQL (or equivalent) experience
- ActiveMQ experience
- HTTPD and website maintenance experience
- Front-end programing language experience
- PKI management and user authentication experience
- Experience with agile development
- Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or Signal Intelligence (SIGINT) processing experience
