Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Network Engineer to support a dynamic team in a contract position in Columbus, Ohio. The successful candidate will be responsible for helping optimize an existing global corporate network.
This position will play an important role in ongoing network modernization efforts. The individual will work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of situation requires experienced evaluation and judgment.
Key Responsibilities:
Under general supervision, the responsibilities of the role would include:
- Technology Lifecycle Management: Plan and execute the decommissioning of outdated network equipment, transitioning services on to new platforms and technologies.
- Network Monitoring & Optimization: Audit and enhance alerting on all network devices, standardizing configuration and notification events.
- Network configuration and Security Enhancement: Documentation, standardization and securing of network configuration post inventory efforts.
- Remote sites setup: Deployment of networks leveraging existing defined patterns.
- Asset Management: Inventory and help manage assets and storage hygiene.
- Documentation and Knowledge Management: Migrate existing OneNote articles to confluence, refreshing standards as required.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in network engineering, with a good background in managing and optimizing corporate networks.
- Proficiency in network administration and troubleshooting across Cisco, Arista and Meraki technologies.
- Experience with both traditional and modern network technologies.
- Familiarity with SD-WAN solutions and cloud integration.
- Strong understanding of network security best practices, including VPN management.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are preferred.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly identify and resolve network issues.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with global teams and stakeholders.
- Adaptability: Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities and technologies.
- Experience with transitioning network technologies in a corporate setting.
- Familiarity with network equipment from multiple vendors.
- Experience with network lifecycle projects.
