Position: Data Engineer

Job Description:

Forward Air is seeking a Data Engineer to work in the IT department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable cloud-based streaming data solutions that can enable real time analytics and mission critical data visibility to our organization. They must be comfortable working across departments with a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams.

Core Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Extract, cleanse, transform data using Azure and AWS technologies
  • Model complex datasets from multiple structured and semi structured sources
  • Build and maintain documentation on data catalog, data model and data lineage
  • Propose solutions and strategies to business challenges
  • Collaborate with product, analytics and integration teams
  • Work with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business solutions Identify valuable data sources and automate collection processes
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor s degree Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant field
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering
  • Experience in data modeling using cloud technology
  • Knowledge of SQL, NOSQL, Python, Spark, Azure Datafactory, Azure Functions, EventHub, Databricks, Warehouse Star schema
  • Experience with databases: Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, Postgres, DB2
  • Experience with optimizing data pipelines
  • Experience using business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
  • Ideal candidate will possess a can do attitude with a will do work ethic
  • Must be a self-starter that does not require constant direction
  • Strong team player that thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with ability to communicate effectively across all levels of operations/users
  • Ability to drive/display ownership/proactive behavior
