Benefits Administrator

Carlsbad, CA (onsite or hybrid)

Direct Hire. 75-100k

The Benefits Administrator is responsible for the daily operations of group health and retirement benefits programs. This includes coordinating and managing third-party administrators, ensuring compliance with regulations, overseeing vendor performance, and communicating plan information to employees.

Key responsibilities involve coordinating benefit programs (design, communication, administration, and compliance), managing vendor relationships, researching and implementing new benefit programs, ensuring legal compliance, overseeing retirement plan participation, and providing customer service support.

The administrator also coordinates Leave of Absence (LOA) programs, manages benefit software, and performs reconciliations and audits. This role will manage key interactions with 3rd party brokers as well.

Requirements

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate should have HR/Benefits or related certification, 5+ years of experience in benefits or employee benefits administration, intermediate MS Office skills, and experience with HRIS/database and benefits software/modules.

Strong communication, customer service, project management, and analytical skills are essential, along with a thorough understanding of healthcare and retirement plan designs and relevant regulations.

Proven demonstrated strength with Leave-of-absence (LOA) is a must.

Open enrollment skills, strong benefits understanding are requirements.

Experience with self-insured models are a strong plus.

The position requires effective communication, problem-solving, and the ability to work in a team environment. The physical demands include sitting, standing, walking, and occasional lifting.

Candidates must pass a background check and provide proof of employment eligibility in the US.

Heavy LOA experience is a plus, as is experience with third-party vendors and self-insured medical providers, and strong customer service skills.

Paylocity experience and intermediate to advanced Excel skills are a plus.

Benefits

The salary range is $70-100k. Top range includes all of the plus skills.
