The Museum of Modern Art is currently accepting applications for an Events Coordinator who interfaces with all team members, as well as collaborators within and outside the Museum, with a direct line to the Museum’s member base. Drives forward the planning, organizing, and implementation of a comprehensive schedule of 75+ member events and programs annually.

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualizes and executes annual program of Membership events, bolstering Membership’s overall content strategy and leading to strong member engagement, retention, and acquisition.
  • Identifies and conducts outreach to external partners to facilitate programs based on team priorities.
  • Collaborates with Curatorial, Education, Marketing, and Special Programming and Events teams to implement varied and high-impact events related to Museum-wide activity.
  • Serves as onsite and virtual point person and host for events, personally giving remarks and moderating as needed, and cultivating members through direct engagement.
  • Envisions and owns event engagement strategy for Membership digital product, including elements of event discovery, attendance, live engagement, and on-demand interaction.
  • Oversees event calendar, prepares marketing plan and invitations, updates MoMA.org, books vendors, supervises operational logistics and staffing, and tracks guest lists.
  • Drafts and distributes event agreements, tracks expenses versus budget, oversees post-event record keeping, and processes event invoices.
  • Provides exemplary customer service at live events as well as via mail, email, and phone.
  • Works on strategic departmental initiatives in connection with member benefits and retention.
  • Assists with event and renewal data collection and reporting as well as post-event emails.
  • Assists with the annual tax deductibility calculation for the membership program.
  • Performs any other duties reasonably related to the functions described above.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in art history or arts administration, and three or more years of event operations experience.
  • Creative programming professional and skilled communicator who is detail-oriented and has a passion for MoMA and the Museum’s mission.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and CRM database experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to be able to effectively interact with external collaborators, members, donors, trustees, and the public.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively multi-task.
  • Must be able to work independently, set priorities, follow and meet deadlines.
  • Must be available for frequent evening and weekend work required to support events.
  • This position is in scope of the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI) DSS), therefore, any offer of employment for this position will be contingent on the satisfactory completion of a criminal background check. The background check will be performed by an outside vendor in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and city statutes.

Reports to: Manager, Membership Engagement

Salary: The salary for this position is $59,193 per annum.
