Job Description: Our client, a government contractor, has an immediate opening for a RELEASE MANAGER / RTE to work remote from home with very little travel to their HQ in Springfield, VA. The Release Manager is a leadership position that manages coordinates releases across multiple projects, plays the role of a Release Train Engineer (RTE) that aligns multiple Agile Release Trains (ART), and oversees a team of scrum-masters.

Primary responsibilities include:
  • Overseeing production releases for O&M and enhancement projects, including management of customer communications and delivery of release documentation
  • Facilitating ART events and processes, supporting teams in delivering value, and ensuring the success of the ART
  • Coordinate and align ART activities with the program roadmap
  • Serving as a liaison between management, technical, and operations teams to ensure smooth collaboration.
  • Implementing PI planning events
  • Supervising a team of scrum-masters

Primary Job Duties:
  • Coordinating PI Planning - 40%
  • Managing ART events - 25%
  • Managing Release - 25%
  • Supervision of Scrum Master - 10%

Qualifications: Due to the nature of this work U.S. Citizenship is required.

Clearance : TSA clearance is preferred at time of hire

Required skills/Level of Experience:
Career level with a complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts. Working under only general direction, provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions. Minimum 5 years' experience + bachelor's degree or equivalent (Associate degree +2 years' experience; 6 years' experience; or relevant professional certification); Successful completion of higher education which has not resulted in a degree may be counted as one year of experience.
  • Experience supporting large Federal government IT programs in an Agile environment, preferably in the Human Capital space (5+ years).
  • Experience as an RTE leading Agile Release Trains (ARTs) and facilitating Planning Interval (PI) events (2+ years)
  • Strong facilitation, coaching, and servant leadership skills, with ability to influence and inspire teams and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to engage and align diverse groups.
  • Understanding of Agile principles, including SAFe, Scrum, and Kanban.

Preferred skills:
  • SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE) certified
  • Experience with human capital systems, especially in support of Federal customers
