About The Role

We are seeking a Occupational Medicine Case Management Specialist to support N3B in a direct role! This position is full-time and will be based out of Los Alamos, New Mexico.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining Occupational Medicine processes, procedures and practices that are in compliance with Department of Energy’s (DOE) 10 CFR 851, Worker Safety and Health Program, as well as the Chronic Beryllium Disease Prevention Program in accordance with DOE’s 10 CFR Part 850
  • Establishing and maintaining an occupational health database system to effectively store and track all medical information pertaining to required employee physical exams and medical surveillances
  • Maintaining, overseeing and submitting the Beryllium-Associated Worker Registry as required by DOE
  • Supporting N3B operations and support organizations in meeting the requirements of the N3B Occupational Medicine Program
  • Implementing an effective injury and illness case management program, including establishment of an incident management system to track all injuries and illnesses at N3B
  • Supporting safety program initiatives, to include Integrated Safety Management, Behavior Based Safety, Human Performance Improvement, and other initiatives in support of a safety conscious work environment
  • Interfacing with and supporting worker safety teams, to include the N3B Safety Action Team (SAT)
  • Coordinating with Line Management to enroll employees into the applicable medical surveillance programs
  • Coordinating with the Occupational Medicine clinic staff to schedule applicable medical surveillances as well as drug screenings (pre-employment, post-incident, random)
  • Coordinating with N3B Industrial Hygienists and work supervisors/managers to ensure exposure information is appropriately factored in, and fully integrated with the Occupational Medicine program
  • Coordinating with Human Resources as necessary with respect to programs that interface with Occupational Medicine, to include Workers’ Compensation, fitness for duty, return to work requirements, etc
  • Developing training and briefing material for workers and supervisors regarding Occupational Medicine program requirements and implementation
  • Directly interfacing with our workers’ compensation carrier to ensure claims are filed and reviewed in a timely manner

Requirements

  • Education & Years of Experience – Bachelor’s Degree in environmental health, occupational health, biology, chemistry or related field and 3+ years of relevant experience; additional, relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Citizenship – To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work
  • Clearance – To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed
  • Must have a demonstrated ability to contribute functional expertise to project planning, execution and management
  • Must have experience developing and implementing a case management program
  • Must have experience in injuries/illnesses case management
  • Must be skilled in collaborating with and engaging workers for effective program development and implementation
  • Must have effective verbal and written communication skills, to include presenting programmatic material to workers and managers
  • Must have experience developing training and briefing material for workers and supervisors regarding the Occupational Medicine program requirements and implementation
  • Must be a Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of New Mexico or able to obtain license.

N3B manages the Los Alamos Legacy Cleanup Contract for the U.S. Department of Energy Environmental Management’s Los Alamos Field Office, which is responsible for cleaning up contamination that resulted from LANL operations before 1999 and packaging and shipping radioactive and hazardous waste off-site for permanent disposal (n3b-la.com).
