The role
Business Operations enables our business to scale faster and operate more efficiently. The Compliance Business Operations Principal will oversee and enhance our compliance framework, ensuring that all operations align with regulatory requirements and internal policies. This role will involve strategic leadership, risk management, and cross-departmental collaboration to foster a culture of compliance throughout the organization. This role will partner directly with the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) and Compliance Leadership team to identify criteria for success and establish the execution roadmap in delivering the next phase of SoFi’s Compliance buildout. This is your opportunity to showcase a breadth of strengths: strategy, analysis, financial modeling, problem-solving, performance management, program leadership, cross-functional project management, and more.

The role

This role will partner directly with the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) and Compliance Leadership team to identify criteria for success and establish the execution roadmap in delivering the next phase of SoFi’s Compliance buildout. This is your opportunity to showcase a breadth of strengths: strategy, analysis, financial modeling, problem-solving, performance management, program leadership, cross-functional project management, and more.
What you’ll do:
- Own end-to-end execution of all Compliance related regulatory commitments, issues and audit findings
- Stay updated on relevant regulations and industry standards, ensuring compliance across all operations. Monitor changes in legislation and assess the impact on the organization.
- Actively define Compliance’s long-term and short-term strategy, priorities and goals.
- Drive accountability throughout an organization by setting up operating cadence/rhythm that bridges strategy, execution, and performance management (e.g. OKRs, business reviews). Own defining and measuring initiatives essential to Compliance.
- Assume complete ownership of projects and initiatives, thoughtfully managing business case, scope, dependencies, resources, and milestones
- Provide support for the Chief Compliance Officer and Compliance Leadership team on key business management deliverables including but not limited to budgeting and people strategy.
- Engage with enterprise Business Operations counterparts in other business units and functions on production and delivery of company-wide standardized processes such as quarterly planning and board deck preparation
- Ambassador for the CCO in various forums
- Build the future of SoFi and work closely with Corporate Development on diligence of potential assets of interest to accelerate our strategic mission.
- 12+ years of experience in compliance, risk management, or regulatory affairs.
- Intimate knowledge of banking laws and regulations
- Experience leading cross-functional teams that combines strategic thinking with tactical execution
- Passion to learn, responsibly grow our business, and support our mission of helping members get their money right
- Ability to break down challenges/opportunities, build a strategy, write an action plan, identify resources, and project-manage to completion
- Tell a compelling story – use data to drive strategy, execution, and optimization
- High EQ to build relationships across all levels, departments, and personality types to lead without direct reporting lines
- Track record of performance in a high growth, dynamic environment
- Bias toward action, strong analytical skills, and solid business judgment
- Eagerness to roll up your sleeves to get things done (even the unglamorous things)
- Expert communication and presentation skills and the confidence to articulate, present and debate your recommendations with anyone
- Ability to balance and prioritize multiple work streams for different stakeholders
- Experience in management consulting, investment banking and/or business operations
- Experience in Fintech
- MBA
