Overview
The Information Technology and Security Technical Writer will be pivotal in improving the customer s processes and procedures by creating technical documentation such as policies and procedures. Candidate needs a strong understanding of the IT and Cybersecurity domain with the ability to explain complex concepts in structured and concise language. A person who can create technical information in easy-to-understand language for a technical / non-technical audience, including internal teams such as Analysts and IT support staff. The Technical Writer will produce high-quality documentation following LIPA s brand templates that clearly articulate the structure, effectiveness, and opportunities for improvement identified by PSEG LI staff.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Conduct information-gathering sessions to understand technical processes and solutions comprehensively.
- Meet with subject-matter experts to ensure specialized topics are appropriately addressed.
- Collaborate with SMEs to obtain and organize information for content development.
- Create documentation after thoroughly collaborating with subject matter experts and technical staff.
- Organize, coordinate, and run documentation operations for a 2+ year program. The effort will require an in-depth management of processes and the accompanying data that will be managed day to day.
Content Creation and Management:
- Produce, manage, and enhance a wide range of written materials, including policies, procedures, departmental announcements, technical specifications, training materials, and formal reports. Create how-to documents with screenshots and tutorials.
- Develop documentation aligned with the requirements identified in the recent assessment.
- Determine the most precise and logical way to present information for the most significant reader comprehension.
- Generate innovative ideas for content and workflow solutions.
- Review and copyedit content developed by other members of the team.
- Ability to take existing policies and procedures documentation and improve it.
Technical Understanding:
- Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of technical processes and solutions through a questioning attitude and collaboration with stakeholders.
- Participate in collaboration sessions to ensure accurate and insightful documentation.
- Analyze information required to develop or update policy, procedure, and form documentation.
